There are many other message boards available on the net. Two worth mentioning are the Fibrohugs Message Board and the Healthboards Fibromyalgia Message Board.
Please help, we need your support! We are not looking to make a profit from this site, but just break even as if a non profit site.
Managing My Fibromyalgia is not a non-profit organization and we have never presented ourselves as such. No contribution to Managing My Fibromyalgia is tax deductible except as a business expense.
Please consult your accountant regarding expensing contributions to Managing My Fibromyalgia.
The past couple of years since the Dot Com crash, small mom and pop Web sites like Managing My Fibromyalgia have had a hard time raising sufficient revenue to be able to remain online.
Costs to operate a site like this, for Web hosting and connection fees can alone run over $1000/year depending on which services you use. Add to that, all the unpaid time for answering e-mail, searching out new information and resources, updating the Web site, and you can see it involves a huge commitment. Many times my wife Nancy and I wonder how we keep it going.
You can help to support us and other favorite small Web sites like this by making any of your online purchases through links to our merchant partners. We have partnered with several large and well known online companies as well as other small mom and pop Web sites, who provide a wide range of excellent products that you shop for everyday. By purchasing these products through links to our partner's Web sites, you will be helping to give us the financial support we need to be able to provide you with the kind of content you are looking for and deserve.
Merchant Web sites also rely heavily on sites like ours for their own support and many receive as much as 80% of their revenue through arrangements like this. This arrangement allows us to concentrate on content while allowing them to concentrate on product and delivery.
So please be aware that when you follow a link from our Web site to one of our partner's Web sites and you make a purchase, you will be supporting Managing My Fibromyalgia as well. And for that, we thank you profusely.
Also to My Dear Friends and Readers:
I will never forget the day that the exhaustion and physical pain, the unbearable fear of the unknown, and the continual inner emotions about not wanting to live this way anymore, were set aside when I found out that there were others like me.... I was no longer alone.
The Wilson Library support group that I attended back then, to me, was special. The members of the group were comforting to me. They shared with me, and they went to any lengths to give me all the support and understanding necessary to help ease my suffering and torment. I was not alone in this walk anymore.
I knew there were many others like me in the dark and feeling alone. The magic of the Internet and having a Web site has allowed me to fulfill my long term desire to help others in the realization that they also are not alone. I felt that due to the length of time [now more than 27 years] that I have had to cope with FMS and gain valuable coping skills and experience, that some of my survival tactics and insights would be helpful to others if I could only share those experiences with them.
Based on the feedback we have been receiving we are meeting with success. Our budget is limited. We have not been able to take advantage of all the methods available of getting our Web site noticed and in front of those it is meant to help. We depend a lot on "word of mouth" and recommendations.
I desire to be able to continue to expand this site [more material, better chat and message boards, a regular Newsletter, [maybe even lobbying and advocacy] and expand "The Fibro Help Network"©] and want it always to be "free of charge to all". Attempting to expand the site, to advertise and sign up for paid Search Engine links has really stretch our limited resources [even if you include the limited affiliate ad commissions we currently receive].
As I stated previously, it is our intent is to keep this site as a "free to use" site through the use of Click-able Banner Ads, my wife's and my own limited personal resources and any Donations that come our way from any person or persons, any organization and/or business. No amount is too small! If you are fortunate enough to have some extra money and need a warm feeling in your heart that you have done your part in helping some suffering people in our world, please consider sending a donation our way. It would be going to a very needy and good cause.
Why not go officially NON-PROFIT so all contributions would be tax deductible?... Right now that would require more money and resources than are currently available. This is something that we would hope to do as soon as possible, sometime in the future. We know that many will not donate without this available tax deduction. We do hope that many will still desire to make a donation to the "Managing My Fibromyalgia" Web site, tax deduction or not.
Thank you for your support. It is my fervent wish that the "Managing My Fibromyalgia" Web site can help add a ray of sunshine and positive support in your life or in the life of someone you know, today and every day! Amen!
If the Managing My Fibromyalgia Web site or Forum have helped you in any way, please consider giving back to the site so we can offset expenses and continue to enhance the features critical to helping sufferers of fibromyalgia and other related illnesses. Also my friends, remember to keep the ol' chin up!
Your friend forever,
Bill
